Putin says Russia spends enough money on defense industry

MOSCOW, Mar 15 (PRIME) -- Russia is spending enough money on the state defense order, but the money must be spent rationally, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday at a meeting with prosecutors.

"We allocate enough (money), much, we do it very cautiously, without damaging other areas of our activities, but the allocated money must be spent rationally and in strict accordance with the law," Putin said.

He ordered the prosecutors to oversee the legal issues in the defense sector, allocation of funds and timely arms supply.

The president also said that Russia must respond to sanctions by widening economic freedoms and reduction of red tape.
